Grovefund is committed to protecting the privacy of our donors. This Donor Privacy Policy supplements our general Privacy Policy and is modeled on the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Donor Bill of Rights and the Better Business Bureau Wise Giving Alliance standards.
Our Commitments to You
- We never sell, rent, lease, trade, or exchange donor names, addresses, email addresses, phone numbers, or any other personal information with other organizations or commercial entities.
- We collect personal information only as necessary to process your donation, provide a tax-deductible receipt, report on fund activity, and (where you opt in) communicate with you about Grovefund's mission.
- Payment card information is processed directly by our payment partner (Stripe) and never stored on Grovefund's servers.
Anonymous Giving
You may choose to make an anonymous contribution by omitting your name and email on the contribution form. Anonymous contributions will not receive a donation receipt suitable for tax deduction, since such receipts require your identity under IRS rules.
Donor Communications
With your email address, we send:
- Transactional emails — donation receipts, fund updates about the child you sponsor (if any).
- Optional mission communications — quarterly impact reports and major announcements. You may unsubscribe at any time via the link in every such email.
We do not send marketing communications more than once per month, and never send third-party solicitations.
Public Recognition
Contributor names (and optional messages) are displayed on the child fund page you donate to, as part of the community giving feed. This is the default “public giving” mode. If you prefer your name not appear publicly, select the “Give anonymously” option on the contribution form.
Brand Sponsors
Corporate sponsors receive aggregated, anonymized cohort reports. Sponsors never receive:
- Individual parent or guardian contact information;
- Individual donor lists or contact information;
- Any personally identifying data about participating children.
Donor-Advised Funds & Recurring Gifts
Grovefund accepts grants from donor-advised funds (DAFs) and recurring gifts via ACH or card. These are processed identically to one-time gifts and follow this Policy.
Third-Party Payment Processors
Grovefund uses Stripe for payment processing. Stripe maintains PCI DSS Level 1 compliance and has its own privacy policy at stripe.com/privacy.
Requests & Questions
You may request a copy of our record of your donations, or ask that your information be removed from future communications, by emailing donors@grovefund.org. We will respond within 10 business days.
Changes to This Policy
We will post updates here with a revised effective date. Material changes will be announced via email to active donors at least 30 days before taking effect.
